Finally, re-launched duvien.com

Welcome back to duvien.com

Sorry if it has been a long time coming to re-launch this site. But due to work and other life's commitments, it has made it difficult to find time for my own personal site.

However, now that this site is up and things are less hectic in my life, you'll be sure that this site will be more frequently updated.

Okay, what will you find on this site? well for a start, i've switched CMS from a8eJoomla to Drupal (no, i'm not ditching a8eJoomla or Joomla!) but needed a CMS that can cover more features that was not available in Joomla! such as advanced user permissions and roles as well as multi-categories. So expect Drupal to be covered in this blog too.

Other things that will be covered in this blog site are:

  • Personal life (something to bore the readers, maybe?)
  • Music
  • Photography
  • Web Design/Development
  • Drupal, Joomla! and other Open Source applications
  • Tutorials
  • Apple Mac (yes, finally switched to shiny Macbook Pro)
  • Linux
  • Web 2.0 and Enterprise 2.0

There'll be other stuff included but i'll cover these as i go along when i feel like it (it'll be more of rants, i suppose).

If you are looking for my old joomla extensions, these will be posted back up soon as there are still things to be added to this site (gallery and download section). But i'm learning Drupal as i go along, this was one reason for using Drupal on this site as there are a lot more to learn in Drupal than Joomla! but i'm really having a lot of fun.

first things first, need to search and research for a nice gallery, got so many great photos i want to post up. some are form a trip to Berlin.

Enjoy for now,

Will put it back up

Hi Dennis,

Thanks for re-visiting this site. I really recommend Drupal, it put the fun back into web development. Joomla was good but had a lot of limitations and so became slightly tedious to work with. I still use it for some small clients' site as it does the job quickly.

I will put the story back up very soon and let you know.

Thanks for the praise about my site, i got into Typography after a very kind friend (Justyna) taught me a lot. So this site hopefully reflects this.

I'm sure there is a trackback module for Drupal though i'll need to dig thru the 1000s of modules available. But with a great community behind Drupal, it shouldn't take long.

Berlin was fantastic and i'm thinking of moving there, maybe next year... but we'll see.

Hi There

Hi Duvien,

I hadn´t looked at your site for a while; I like your new Screendesign - it´s straight and clean. I´ll setup a new site for myself at http://www.brandtimage.de - it´s a small site for showing some pictures running under Typolight; no sticky features, just Photos but works for my needs ...

However, i will continu blogging as i do do @ 5pix.de, but using a subdomain http://blog.brandtimage.de (site is still in Setup) and using worpress instead of Joomla. Some time ago i read that nice story of "two cups of coffee and and empty jar of mayonaise" at your old site and wrote a german translation that I want to post at my new blog and Trackback to you. I don´t know if Drupal is supporting Trackbacks, but if you post the Story at this site give me a hint via contact or comment and I will trackback/linkback you ...

so long Dennis aka BrandtMarke@BrandtImage

p.s. looking forward to see the pics taken at your Berlin Trip, the city where i met my wife the first time .. :)
