What's to come in Drupal 6

New features in Drupal 6

There have been many major improvements in Drupal 6. A lot of usability improvements and some aren't as obvious but under the hood it shines.

I'm especially looking forward to the menu system that has been completely re-written to make it more friendly and usable. This has been one of the frustrating things for me in Drupal. An obvious improvement and a very welcome one is the weighting that you apply to blocks and navigation links to assign them to different regions. Now you can just move them into position (using AJAX) without having to work out the weighting.

There are too much features and improvements to list so I'm not going to go into details. Instead, over at Mastering Drupal website, Greg Knaddison has kindly presented us with a video clip and talks thru the new features you'll find. :)

Lastly, an excellent module that is now added to the core is the update status module. See the screencast for details. if you are running Drupal 5, i highly recommend to install it to keep track of any updates for your modules as no doubt you'll end up having loads even on a small site.
